Pat-Glad things went well! Homebrew with friends is always a fun time.Keep the club fairly informal to start – the key is to make it fun and enjoyable. Over time you can build up a set of events and formal programs for meetings. To start, though, KISS approach is great. Somewhere I have an old list of “things to do” we put together. The club has made it through about 2/3 of the list to date (going on 15+ years). A good social aspect combined with an education portion will keep “both sides” interested (i.e. the brewers and the moochers). Last bit of advice – don’t do it all yourself. Get everyone involved.I’ll check to see if anybody can come in December. I know our holiday schedule will most likely preclude that opportunity, but possibly January would work better? That might be a good time for the whole family to come up and meet with some old friends - it’s been a long time! I also have a holiday beer going – Marris Otter, Munich, Melanoidan, Special B plus cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla bean – that I’m bringing to our neighborhood Christmas party in 3 weeks. Also have a Baltic Porter just about ready and have a “surprise” cider (a fellow club member called me this morning to say he had 5 gallons of fresh pressed cider “waiting for me” at his house – I couldn’t decline the offer) that I just pitched some yeast a few hours ago. The party should be a good one!I’ll get back with you on a January date. In the meantime, brew, drink, and be merry.Cheers,Chris
