Covert Hops December meeting

I sent a message to the Covert Hops message board telling them about our first meeting. I asked about several of us coming to their December meeting. They were very positive and congratulatory on our efforts. Not sure when the meeting is yet. I'll let everyone know.

Will came over on Friday and we drank some of his excellent basic ale and even more excellent was his blueberry melomel. He gave me some good suggestions on improving my own mead efforts. I gave some high alcohol tolerance ale yeast (22%) that I saved from my imperial stout.

Some of us played hoops yesterday at Wesleyan. We had a great game. I know some of you won't believe this but Jack actually came and made a good show with several hard earned baskets. Tinsley Mathews was also there and want's to start home brewing. I think we are, as someone has said, "fermenting revolution."

I was going to transfer my pumpkin ale into a secondary fementer yesterday but it is still perking away (almost three weeks) so I will wait a few days. My sahti is gurgling away. I'm a little superstitious of this stuff, like the spirit of Woden might be in the mix.

Hey Pat,
What was that high tolerance yeast? I'm not brave enough/strong enough/man enough to brew something like that yet but I would like to know what it was.

Jack and I had some of willPOWER's strawberry melomel last weekend and it was so damn delicious. I've got a bottle of it in the frig. I know he needs that bottle back but then, I'm waiting for the perfect special time to crack it open. These gifts worthy of the fancy bottle need respect and I don't want to be hurried. Would it help Y'all if I get a case of those Grolsch bottles so I could just trade a clean empty? Just looking for an angle smile.gif

I'm finally after today up to stock on my nightly swill. So, Will I want to cash in the rain check your next free weekend day.

I've been doing a lot of research on full electric brewing. How about $.50 for energy on a 5 gallon brew? Lots better than a $20 tank of propane every 5 batches and cheap cheap cheap to build. Would not have bought the $250 15 gallon kettle but still glad I have it.

Kan
