Hey Guys, just a quick note to let you know that I am heading to Milledgeville on Saturday to hopefully pick up some honey. If anyone needs some just let me know. I am getting myself 5 gallons or about 60 lbs. It runs about $2 a pound, which is about the best price I have seen anywhere. And it is good stuff. Hope all is well, and I look forward to our next meeting.
I would really like to get some honey but I don't have any way to ferment another braggot. 5 lbs of honey would be nice just for household use. I also wish I could go with you and rub elbows with the bee guy. I just can't afford the time with christmas bearing down on me. If you run across more of those acid jars let me know. I'd like to get 4 or 5 of them. Just curious if you ran a hydrometer on the braggot we did last weekend?

No, I didn't take a Hydro on it, it is still perculating pretty good here. I will be gald to get you 5 lbs for you. I will keep my eyes open for acid bottles, and I also have a 7 gallon SS conical fermentor I am looking to get rid of, I just like using the bottles better. Did a hybrid beer with mr Nash Wednesday, we used a pilsen extract with some golden, and some bries 90. centennial, and Saaz hops. I'll let you know how it comes out. I'll let you know whenever I go to Milledgeville again.
You've got a conical! I've wanted one of those to harvest yeast and dodge the trub. New ones are way too expensive right now with all my customers facing budget cuts. I can see meads and braggots would not be practical because they take so long. Still seems like it would be good for a primary. I'd make an offer but I don't have a way to control the environment on such a large fermenter. Have you got a price in mind? Have you thought about leasing?
Jealous of your saaz. I have so many european brews I want to do and all the grains but no appropriate hops. I think tomorrow I'll do a hoppy california ale and dump 4 oz of cascade at it. Is this the saaz you ordered from overseas?
If you got it - thanks for picking me up some honey. I can come over and pick it up early next week if you tell me where "over" is and a time that would be convenient.

Got the Honey, Cotton, and gallberry this time. I live in the Ingleside area, and you are more than welcome to stop by early next week to get some, and check out the fermentor. There are great hops deals to be had on E-bay. There is a pound of Hallertou on there right now for $25. My Saaz came from the eastern Europe, it was postmarked Russia, but I thought they were coming from CZ. I will call you and give you directions to my house.
Saw this vendor mentioned on another board. Hallertau $22.00 LB! Northern has them too but is only offering oz at 3.75 - that's 60.00 a lb.

They have a great range of other hops also available from 19-31 a lb. Saaz at 26
I'm not enough in love with any hop right now to want a whole lb. I would like to have a stock of Magnum for bittering. It's very high alpha and low cohumulone so you can hop up your beer without having a rough bitter aftertaste.

I would definitely like some Will. I'm hoping to bottle my Sahti this weekend. It is so-so. I think I've convinced myself that what I love the most is just good balanced Rheinheitgebots beer with grain, hops and yeast. A friend of mine who lives in Boulder, CO works next door to the Avery Brewery. I looked on their website. They specialize in high alcohol beers. They have one that is an unbelievable 16.4%. Check it out. Call me sometime and I'll get the honey from you. Peace.
